Operation Test Tube was conducted over two days and saw drivers random breath and drug tested across Tingha, Bundarra, Ashford, Yetman, Inverell and Delungra.
More than 280 drivers were randomly breath tested, while nine tested positive for drugs and another was detected for allegedly driving while disqualified.
One man was also charged with drug possession.
Inverell Chief Inspector Rowan O’Brien said drivers will have to wait for forensic testing of the samples before any charges are laid.
“Random breath testing and random drug testing has proven to be an effective tool for both deterring and detecting numerous types of crime,” he said.
“The operation had flexible capacity to include conducting high visibility proactive patrols of sector towns and the surrounding areas to detect and deter crime.
“And, based on these results, further operations are planned.”
