Names sought to advise Sapphire Wind Farm project

THE deadline for expressions of interest in the Sapphire Wind Farm’s community consultation committee has been extended to the end of the month.

Applications for the committee will now close on October 31.

Spokesman for the Sapphire Wind Farm, Adrian Maddocks, said there had been some interest in the committee already but that further input from interested landowners, neighbours and stakeholder groups was being sought.

“We want to ensure we get a wide spectrum of people providing input into the wind farm as the project moves forward,” Mr Maddocks said.

It’s proposed the consultation committee will comprise of between five and seven members of the local community and other stakeholders.

Mr Maddocks said it was hoped at least two representatives would own houses within a two-kilometre radius of the wind turbine.

It is also hoped a member of the local council, three representatives from the proponent – The Wind Prospect group – and an independent chair would form the remaining seats on the committee.

Nominations for the group are being accepted in writing and applicants need to meet a key selection criteria which can be found at www.sapphirewindfarm.com.au
