IT COULD be somewhat of a State of Origin conflict at Tamworth Paceway today when Queenslanders Julie and Lola Weidemann will truck down 19 horses to take on the locals in the eight-race program.

In the feature 11-horse Psarakis Accounting Marathon (2730m) worth $7140, the Clifton-based sisters - along with their driving niece Stacey Weidemann, will gear up five contenders, so another trifecta for the strong supporters of pacing in this area could be quite on the cards this afternoon.
Embarking from the Queensland trucks to represent the stable in the marathon will be newly-acquired Jedi Superstar (Stacey Weidemann), last start winner Isobela Maree (Madi Young), Major Deed (Julie Weidemann), Mister Elegant (Danny Mackney) who will be resuming, and Mister Skye Rocket to be driven by Lola Weidemann.
The pair will also start another 14 pacers across the program.
Former Tamworth-owned Jedi Superstar will be having his 120th career start, and third under the new ownership of Stacey Weidemann and Queensland racecaller Anthony Collins.
"Stacey wanted a horse, and liked this bloke. And he's not the first horse we've purchased out of Tamworth," Julie Weidemann said of the eight-year-old gelding, formerly owned by local Ken Natty.
"He's had a couple of starts at Albion Park, but he probably needs a bit more racing in harder classes up this way to toughen him up."
She also rated as "good chances" Isobela Maree, Major Deed and Mister Elegant, who is resuming but "races well fresh".
Mister Skye Rocket will be having his 401st start. In his 400th start on July 9 at Albion Park, the 11-year-old finished 1.6 metres second over 2138m in C4 or better company.
"We thought he had it won, but he got pipped on the post," Julie said.
Though when quizzed on who would be the best over the longer trip, Julie Weidemann had to lean towards consistent three-year-old mare Isobela Maree. She followed a handy third over 2360m in Tamworth C4-C9 company on June 30 with a solid five-metre victory over stablemate Major Deed in Tamworth 1980m C4-C8 a week later.
"She'd be my pick over the longer trip. She's right up on her game at the minute and is as good as we can get her to go.
"Her last win at Tamworth was very authoritative. She did the work, sat in the death, even Major Deed couldn't run her down. She's rock solid."
Though Major Deed, who is owned by Julie Weidemann herself, could turn on the tables with the right run of the race.
Prior to finishing behind Isobela Maree in their last meeting, he was a five-metre winner over Idle Hands (also in the feature today) and Isobela Maree on June 30.
