Sydney unit joins in Tamworth arrest: man in court

A MAN will appear in Tamworth Local Court this afternoon after a police operation in Coledale today.

Local officers were assisted by police from the Tactical Operations Unit in Sydney to arrest the 28-year-old man in Kenny Dr, about 9am.

While police said no force was used in the operation, they’ve confirmed a number of exhibits were seized from the home but would not be drawn on what they were.

They also revealed the man was wanted for revocation of parole and he is facing that related charge along with fresh matters of using a weapon with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intimidation.

He was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Court today.

Oxley Local Area Command crime manager Inspector Phil O’Reilly said “the level of risk” to execute the warrant at the Kenny Dr premises was deemed “high” so police sought outside assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit.
