The only Armidale club not to win, South Armidale Scorpions, were beaten by North Armidale United 3-1.
No scoring details were available from the clubs but the win enabled the North Armidale Redmen to remain at the top of the PL first grade ladder, two points ahead of an Oxley Vale Attunga side that beat a spirited Tamworth FC 4-1 at Carter Street on Saturday.
Brendon Fergie scored first for the Mushies from the penalty spot while Adam Watson scored with a clinical header for a 2-nil halftime lead.
Benn Genardini added to that with a good goal from an excellent interchange of passes and that was followed quickly by a strike from Jack Diebold.
Tamworth FC scrambled an own goal and remain sixth on the ladder, equal with North Companions, who beat Namoi United 4-nil after strikes from Nick Bowden (2), Matthew Clarke and Scott Flanagan.
North Companions club secretary Wayne Clarke reckoned it a good team performance, with the second half much better than the first against a hard-working Namoi side.
Nick Bowden and Matt Clarke both scored from the penalty spot with Bowden and Flanagan best afield for the first grade side.
Northies’ second grade side also produced a “good methodical performance” Clarke said, with Liam Wood best afield for the Men In Black.
They joined Tamworth FC on 19 points, four adrift of South Armidale and East Armidale.
East’s 7-2 win over Moree enabled them to hurdle South Armidale and they play Tamworth FC in Tamworth this Saturday while North Companions head to Armidale to play South at Armidale Sportsground.
Moree FC host leaders North Armidale, Inverell’s Joeys FC go to Narrabri and Demon Knights host reigning premiers OVA at Rologas Field in a huge battle between second and third.
