Children have been enjoying a brand new playground – bigger, better and more adventurous than their old one, and safer, too.
Director Julia Cameron said the playground had been built at a cost of $58,000, with the assistance of a $26,000 grant from Shenhua, a number of small grants and “careful management” of the school’s finances, boosted by a big helping of community generosity.
The timber playground had been two-and-a-half years in the making, she said, and aside from offering children so much more to do, it was also necessary when the old one started to fail compliance tests.
Swings, slides, ladders, a swinging bridge, cubby and shop are just some of the things delighting the preschool’s 38 students, and Ms Cameron said they were also revelling in the physical challenges the new playground presented.
