Tom Eddie Shorter appeared in Armidale Local Court on three sets of drug-related matters on Monday, after he was charged following a traffic stop in May.
The 24-year-old is accused of supplying more than an indictable quantity of methylamphetamine, and now also stands accused of dealing with the suspected proceeds of crime.
According to court documents, police will allege he was in possession of more than $1100 when he was intercepted by officers on May 22.
Shorter was not required to enter pleas to the charges in court, after Magistrate Michael Holmes was told the case had been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to take over because of the serious nature of the offences.
Police allege Shorter was involved in the supply of methylamphetamine, after three resealable bags containing more than 21g of a crystallised substance suspected to be ice was seized from his vehicle during the police stop in Donnelly St.
At the time of the arrest, senior officers claimed the drugs had an estimated street value of more than $21,000.
Mr Holmes ordered detectives to compile a brief of evidence before the case returns to court in August.
During the brief proceedings, Shorter pleaded guilty to two counts of driving with an illicit drug in his blood system.
He admitted to driving with methylamphetamine in his system on the morning of April 11, and also again on the afternoon of May 22, when he was stopped by police in Armidale.
He will be sentenced in August for the two offences and remains on bail.
As part of his conditions, which were varied in court on Monday, Shorter has to reside at a home in Armidale and is subjected to a curfew between 9pm and 6am.
He must report to local police every day and is also prohibited from consuming alcohol or taking drugs.
