Narrabri area NPWS ranger Michael Mulholland said there had been “a light dusting of snow” yesterday that had been expected on Sunday.
“I haven’t been up there, but basically there’s been a good fall of snow on the summit of the mountain all the way down to Coryah Gap,” he said yesterday morning.
“Last July we had a fall that was pretty heavy. This one’s not on the same scale as that – but this one is accessible to the general public.
“Last year it was too heavy and closed the road and made conditions up there unsuitable for
vehicle access. This time it’s an accessible fall that people can get to safely to experience snow.”
Mr Mulholland said that, of all the people lucky enough to experience the white stuff, some were particularly fortunate.
“There are a couple of lucky people staying in the cabins, so they’ll be sitting by the fire, drinking wine and watching the snow from their cabin.”
