Late Wednesday TRC crews were reporting more roads at risk of closure as localised flooding was reported in low-lying areas.
The warnings came as scores of outdoor sporting events were cancelled and council fields and grounds put out of play until at least Sunday as June rain spread wide lakes of water across green spaces around Tamworth.
Only seven roads had been closed around the Tamworth council region up to 4pm, although TRC was monitoring other roads like Whitehouse Lane at Kingswood at 5pm after Goonoo Goonoo Creek broke its banks there.
SES deputy controller for Namoi, Heath Stimson, said they'd noticed a big spike in the creek early Wednesday, including a peak at Goonoo Goonoo Station at 1pm.
At 6pm last night TRC also reported fast flowing water across Daruka Rd at the Moore Creek causeway and access was only for 4WD and drivers should exercise extreme caution. The causeway is just south of the intersection of Daruka Road and Moore Creek Road.
TRC also warned there could also be water over the road at the Davidsons Lane causeway.
Meanwhile, a sidetrack near the Middlebrook Creek bridge, at Loomberah, was the latest added to the list that has been closed to traffic because of water over the roadway.
Other roads closed included the sidetrack at Goonoo Goonoo Creek, near Rangers Valley on the Old Wallabadah Rd, Wallamore Rd at Westdale, Warral Rd at Timbumburi Creek, Duri-Dungowan Rd at Reedy Creek, Burgmanns Lane at Goonoo Goonoo Creek and the Back Woolomin Rd sidetrack near the construction site of the new Woolomin Bridge.
