THE UNE Mountain Bike Trail is being re-opened next Saturday.
SportUNE in conjunction with the New England Mountain Bikers have organised a three-hour enduro event to mark the occasion.
Four kilometres of single track have been chosen for the event, with teams of two competing to see how many laps can be done in the three hours starting at 10am.
According to the event organersthe day will have a very strong social aspect rather than a competitive focus.
There is no prize for winning, but there will be a prize for “best transition high 5” as well as prizes for decorated bikes, costumes and lucky door prizes.
The start location is on the SportUNE oval, and entrants should be there by 9.15am. There is also a juniors event with teams of three allowed for entrants under 15.
It promises to be a great family day out, and there is also a Giant Talon bike to be won for people who sign up for a SportUNE membership.
Registration is $10 online or $20 on the day and includes a sausage sizzle and cold drink after the race.
