With the generous donation of school-type desks from a local high school, the blokes have been busy adding a few touches of sandpaper, paint and polish to present them in their best light.
Men’s Shed president Geoff Allen said the desks are only small and would be ideal in a child’s room or nursery.
“They’ve come up really well with a bit of elbow grease,” Mr Allen said.
“We’ve only got limited space here and we’re running out of room, so we’re having a garage sale to offload some excess stuff.”
The sale will be held on both Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19, so pop in and do as they did in the bible – seek and ye shall find!
“We’ve got some excellent office chairs that have come up really well with a few minor cosmetic repairs, and lots of other bits and pieces,” Mr Allen said.
Club membership is growing steadily, but many of the fellows that have signed up aren’t exactly active – they just enjoy the company.
Mr Allen said if a few more blokes wanted to get in and roll up their sleeves and do some sanding, building, nailing or polishing, they’d be made very welcome.
You’ll find the blokes up at the shed in Victoria Park most Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 9.30am until about 3pm.
If you’d like to inquire about membership, give secretary Phil Crossing a call on 6766 4519.
