The Wright Robertson Winery at Glencoe has been forced to close while it deals with the loss of its cellar door, which was destroyed on Tuesday night.
A fierce blaze broke out about 7.30pm and left just charred remains at the shopfront to the popular winery off the New England Highway.
The owners of the family winery have thanked the public for the support they’ve received since their devastating loss, posting a message on their website that they’ve had to close temporarily.
“On Tuesday night, May 31st, we lost our winery to fire,” the message said.
“Unfortunately, as we deal with the impact of this we are unable to trade as usual and our online store will not be operational.”
It comes as forensic police continue to try and pinpoint what sparked the blaze.
Investigators from Lismore spent much of Wednesday at the scene and will conduct further inquiries as they prepare a report for the coroner.
“Forensic Services Group (FSG) has taken a number of samples and will conduct further analysis of those samples in an effort to assist the coroner in determining the cause of the fire,” New England Inspector Chris McKinnon said.
“Investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the fire.”
The damage bill is expected to top $500,000, meaning the state coroner will investigate the blaze.
