The StandBy Critical Postvention Response (CPR) Service has organised the After Suicide support evening for next Monday.
The service says losing someone to suicide is a traumatic and devastating experience that can shatter the lives of those left behind.
The evening will explore the impact of suicide loss and provide an opportunity for those left behind to further understand their experience and where to find appropriate support.
Information on managing grief and self-care will also be provided, with time for shared discussion and refreshments.
“The national StandBy service deeply appreciates the opportunity to support those who have been bereaved by suicide and provide this free event for the Armidale community via our Critical Postvention Response initiative,” national StandBy CPR Service co-ordinator Richelle Jenner said.
“Supported by the Australian government, this evening is part of a response provided in partnership with local community services, including Armidale hospital, to further enhance the community’s capacity to respond to the impact of loss and work together towards preventing any further loss of life.”
The event will be at the Jacaranda Room, Hughes House Council Community Centre from 5.30pm.
