Go to a Tuesday night council meeting. 

I did and after a very heated meeting with councillors, I walked out. 

While waiting for the lift, it opened and out stepped this chef, all dressed in white, top to toe, Greg, pushing a nice big trolley, filled with lots of hot food, lids on everything (but smelt good, Greg). 

I guess he could have had drinks, not sure. 

As a “joke”, I said to him, “Oh, if I stay until the end do we get nibbles?”

The look on his face told it all. 

I knew what was coming. 

He just looked at me and said, “No, this for the councillors after their meeting.” 

With that, I just snapped my fingers and said, “That’s right”. 

So Greg, we do feed and water the councillors every secondTuesday night. 

I drove home and had a toasted sandwich (which I enjoyed), plus I was able to go to bed and sleep well. 

Could these councillors do the same after the way they treated me? 

Maybe they did, for I had helped pay for them to be fed and watered that night. 

Who knows for sure, but they have to live with what they do and say.
