More than 90 per cent of TAFE teachers and related employees voted no to the proposal from TAFE NSW.
The enterprise agreement proposed teachers work 100 hours more per year, work five days a week, regardless of the number of hours they work, replace teachers with less-qualified trainers, and reduce the entitlements of casual teachers.
NSW Teachers’ Federation general secretary John Dixon said the result was “a clear and resounding rejection”.
“On the basis of this overwhelming majority decision, the NSW Teachers’ Federation will now seek to resume negotiations for a new enterprise agreement that provides a just increase in salaries and protection of working conditions,” Mr Dixon said.
