The Roos stung the Swans with a 56-nil opening-quarter burst before winning 27.10 172 to 7. 11 53 and continue a stranglehold on the Billy Holder Cup they have held since its inception.
However there was more for the Roos to laud after club stalwart Daniel “Stinger” Ray chalked up his 150th game.
Roos coach and club stalwart Tony Bishop was full of praise for the red-headed Ray.
“He played his 150th game today,” he said after the 119-point flogging.
“That makes him a life member of our club. He joins Daniel Johnson (injured) and Daniel Overeem, who kicked seven goals in Saturday’s Swanfest.
“He’s been great for the club, full credit to him.”
Ray’s main spot has been playing in the ruck and, while he’s nowhere near as tall as many of his opponents, Bishop said “he still gets the job done”.
“He’s strong and always a solid performer. Apart from his lack of enthusiasm for training he’s been a pleasure to coach.
“He’s played in the ruck most of the time. He’s not the tallest but strong, durable and tough. He does go hard and just keeps going.”
He will be on deck again on Saturday when the Roos travel to Narrabri to tackle the Eagles at Leitch Oval.
In other games, the Swans host the Bulldogs and Inverell Saints and New England Nomads play a huge top-of-the-table clash in Armidale.
Both teams go into the clash at Bellevue Oval unbeaten.
