HIGH On Dreams led throughout to win yesterday’s $7650 Changeover And Live And Die Droughtbreaker Mile Final (1609m) at Tamworth Paceway but the win could have founded on him “losing” at the same track in mid-April.

The Dean Germon-trained and driven eight-year-old gelding was given to Germon to train by Josh Osborn and Lauren Spencer.
Germon ran him at Tamworth on April 14, was first past the post, but lost on protest.
“He just needed that kill,” Osborn said yesterday as he unstrapped the hopples of the Germon-trained Ireadthenewstoday in the next tie-up stall.
“Yeah, he just needed that confidence (of winning),” Germon said.
High On Dreams had had 67 winless starts when he lost on protest.
He followed with a third at Tamworth and then last Sunday he finally won, officially, at start 69 at the Inverell Cup meeting.
Four days later and he’s notched number two.
“He hasn’t won a race in 60 starts and comes out and wins two in four or five days,” Germon laughed.
“Once I got the lead I knew he’d be hard to beat today but I didn’t know if I was going to get there,” he said.
“As it was, he did it easy and they never got near him.
“He’s been jumping out of the ground since that ‘win’ at Tamworth.”
While the original thoughts had been to sell him after he won his first race, High On Dreams will probably run at Tamworth in a fortnight.
“We were going to sack him but he’s just going too good,” Germon said.
Although he has just a small team, Germon has strung together half a dozen wins from his last 15 runners.
It was also a good day for Nathan Carroll.
He won aboard Major Charlie for Lochinvar trainer Graham Glover and then helped Kootingal trainer Craig Clegg grab a quinella in the Graham Moon Plumbing Pace.
Carroll beat stablemate The Muse (Daniel Morgan) by 1.8m with race favourite, Modern Edition, a short half head away third in a driving finish.
The day also finished well for the visiting Weidemann stable.
Fours Enuf made it three wins in succession with Stacey Weidemann in the gig and then Lola Weidemann drove $3.20 favourite The Brazen Jasper to victory in the Prydes EasiFeed Pace with Stacey second on board Pepperall.
