Penne Fraser takes up the role in the Tamworth region and Barbara Levick will support Liverpool Plains Land Management in Gunnedah and the Liverpool Plains.
Ms Fraser has extensive experience in horticulture, including a time in local government as noxious weeds officer. She’s been working with Landcare since 2014 and is “thrilled to continue this role into the future as part of the new Local Landcare Co-ordinators Initiative”.
While Ms Levick is new to Landcare, she has been involved with Sustainable North West for a number of years.
The Local Landcare Co-ordinators Initiative was announced by the NSW Minister for Primary Industries, Lands and Water, Niall Blair, late in 2015 as part of the NSW government’s $15 million program to support Landcare for the next four years.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said he sees the initiative as one which “will build capacity and connections within local communities and increase the effectiveness of the Landcare network”.
Both local co-ordinators will fall under the umbrella of Tamworth Regional Landcare Association and will work closely with TRLA’s regional Landcare facilitator Felicity Steel.
“These two new positions in the region, funded by the state government and delivered by Local Land Services, will make
a huge difference in supporting our extensive network of Landcare volunteers,” Ms Steel said.
