In late March, The Leader reported 50 cows had died suddenly on a property near Bowling Alley Point, with another 30 dead a week later.
A NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) spokesperson said the organisation’s investigation had concluded.
“Field investigations and laboratory testing suggests that toxicity, including potential plant poisoning, is the most likely cause of death,” they said.
The tests were inconclusive and unable to pin the deaths to a specific plant species, the spokesperson said.
“The owner has reported that deaths have ceased, and remaining affected cattle are recovering.”
