Last Sunday, upstanding grey Chrysolaus stormed home to give Clement her first ever Tamworth Cup (1400m) crown – his next assignment will be the May 8 Gunnedah Gold Cup (1600m).
Today she has last-start Warialda Cup winner Medal of Glory in the 1350m Binnaway Cup and tomorrow she’ll head to Mudgee for Go Dragon’s tilt at the $35,000 Gooree Park Gooree Cup (1600m).
On Monday, she’ll complete her road trip with the resuming Leggie in a BM 55 at the Willow Tree Cup meeting.
Prior to the Warialda Cup victory three weeks ago, Medal of Glory (Gemma Steele) took out the 1500m Wee Waa Cup at Narrabri.
The eight-year-old can also lay claim to victories in both the Bingara and Bundarra cups.
“All starting with B – Binnaway might be next,” Clement joked.
“He doesn’t know how to run a bad race, but he’s drawn 11.
“It’s a nice long track though and that will suit him,” she said.
Clement annually supports Binnaway Jockey Club’s once-a-year meeting, her reason being “it’s a great track and a great meeting”.
“I was quite surprised at their track the first year I went out there.
“Hannah Martin rode my first winner so that’s how long ago it was.”
After Clement recovers from this weekend cups trek, she’ll focus on Chrysolaus’s Gunnedah Cup assault.
“He’s been a great little horse, probably one of the best we’ve had here in the stable.
“We got him from the breaker as a baby and have had him ever since.
“We’re actually breaking in his baby brother at the moment.”
From his 22 starts, the son of Youthful Legs – bred and raced by local thoroughbred legend and former Tamworth Jockey Club president, the late John Clift who passed away earlier this year – has won six.
“It was an emotional win, my first Tamworth Cup too. It was nice for old JC – he put a lot into racing over the years,” she said.
“And it was a gutsy win. He drew wide and sat wide all the way. He really wanted to win, probably for JC.
“He’s been a great horse for us but I think he’s got a lot more to come for sure.”
