“Only a small group but a very enjoyable time,” Lion reporter David Head said.
“With Terry Goodwin (and his tips) away, we all did pretty well on the punt. Barry Lavell and Barry Lingwood got a couple of trifectas. Rang Armaguard to escort them home (they wish).
‘“It was great to see Stan and Ronnie Porter there.”
Head also said bookings for “our 60 Year Reunion Dinner are rolling in”.
“I had a misprint on the last flyer with the date for dinner money to be in. We need it by May 20.”
He said the “The Older We Get, The Better We Were Drinks” will be held Friday night June 10 from 6pm at Tamworth City Bowling Club while the 60 Year Reunion Dinner will be held Saturday night, June 11 at Tamworth City Bowling Club, 6pm for 7pm (2 course meal $25pp)
“Dinner bookings must be made and paid for by May 20,” he reminded with money deposited at Northern Inland Credit Union: BSB: 802298 - Account No: 68118. There is also a breakfast BBQ and social bowls on the Sunday Morning (June 12) at City Bowlo from 9am.
“We’ve got plenty of teams having a special reunion (Barry Lingwood’s 1976 Reserve Grade Major Premiers),” he said.
“Dick O’Halloran is keen to get what’s left of the 1966 teams together for a 50-year reunion but it’s important to remember that the reunion is for all who were associated with the great Tamworth City Lions Club – players, officials or supporters. All are welcome.”
He’s hoping all “spread the word and make the reunion a big one”.
