BARWON police say they attended no fewer than five separate alcohol- related crimes and incidents around Moree and Narrabri at the weekend.

On Friday night, a 21-year-old man was assaulted at a Moree hotel.
Early Saturday morning, about 1am, a 15-year-old boy was arrested after an incident outside a private party in Webb Ave.
The local youth was charged with behaving in an offensive manner in or near a public place and was later released on bail pending an appearance in Moree Childrens Court next month.
An hour later, police confiscated alcohol from a group of youths in Alice St.
Another 15-year-old local boy was caught by police just moments later for his alleged involvement in a fight at the
Balo and Gwydir St intersection.
He is expected to be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
In Narrabri, two young people were also removed from a private party in Lloyd St on Saturday night.
Barwon Local Area Command acting Superintendent Steve Laksa said local police regularly witnessed the results of excess drinking.
“This type of behaviour is routinely the cause of a good night out turning bad for many innocent locals who have every right to enjoy their social outings without fear of being abused or assaulted,” he said.
Police also spoke to a a number of young people about alcohol offences after seeing several groups of intoxicated juveniles on Friday and Saturday night.
Acting Superintendent Laksa said it was concerning parents and carers insisted on remaining ignorant to the problems of underage drinking.
“Children are at huge risk of being involved in serious incidents such as assaults, including sexual assault and even fatal motor vehicle accidents,” he said.
