NUNDLE and Tamworth are among the state finalists announced for the 2012 Tidy Town Sustainable Community Awards to be presented in Kyogle on Saturday, November 3.
Tamworth Regional Council's parks and horticulture manager, Brian Sheedy, said while details will not be revealed until the gala presentation ceremony, there are 15 local chances for award wins.
"Nundle has eight entries in the running for awards and Tamworth has seven in their respective categories," he said.
"It's a great achievement a credit to all those in those communities who have worked together."
Nundle has eight submissions entered in Category A towns with a population up to 350): Overall award; Cultural Heritage Award Go For Gold Festival; Bush Spirit Award The Great Nundle Dog Race; Waste Management and Litter Reduction; Water Conservation Award; Wildlife Corridors and Habitat Conservation Award Nundle Woody Weeds Project; Schools Environment Award Nundle Public School; and, Schools Environment Award Nundle CWA Preschool.
Tamworth has submitted seven entries in Category F cities with a population of 25,001 and over: Overall Award; Cultural Heritage Award 40 Years of Country Music; Bush Spirit Award Tamworth Relay for Life; Waste Management and Litter Reduction Award - Challenge Recycling Plan; Water Conservation Award Effluent Reuse Farm; Wildlife Corridors and Habitat Conservation Award Victoria Park Master Plan; Schools Environment Award William Cowper School.
Manilla, Hanging Rock and Woolomin also submitted entries in the annual awards.
NSW Environment and Heritage Minister Robyn Parker will be a special guest at the event along with Richard Torbay.
