THE first ever Tenterfield Classic fishing competition has been postponed until January next year.
The event was set to be held this coming weekend but has been moved because of the danger it posed to the cod breeding season, organiser Geoff Hovey said.
The dam has rainbow trout, yellowbelly and some big cod in it who are breeding at the moment and fishing affects their breeding cycles.
Fishermen should not let this get them down as the event now promises to have bigger fish in it as even more rainbow trout are being put into the dam by the Department of Environment.
“They are already pan size, about 30cm when they are put in, and there was some put in at the start of the year as well, so they should be huge come January” Mr Hovey said.
The Classic is now set to be held on the January 12 and 13.
