Wednesday’s visit is being hosted by cotton growers, researchers and ginners who will take them on a tour that will include Auscott Narrabri farm during harvest, the Auscott gin to see cotton processing and the Australian Cotton Research Institute (ACRI) to meet some of the world’s leading cotton scientists.
Cotton Australia chief executive officer, Adam Kay, said the tour created a strong connection between both ends of the cotton supply chain – growers and end-users – and supported Cotton
Australia’s efforts to position Australian cotton through partnerships with iconic Australian brands.
“It’s a great opportunity to showcase the Australian cotton industry as a world-leader when it comes to sustainable and responsible production –
both environmentally and socially,” he said.
Attendees will include Courtney Miller (Australian Fashion Chamber), Kerry Mackenzie (Bonds), representatives of Specialty Fashion Group (Millers, Crossroads, Katies, Autograph, City Chic and Rivers) and Pretty Girl Fashion Group (Rockmans, beme,
W. Lane and Table Eight) and Peter
Redding (Liberty Prints).
