“I say to the people ‘Please just ignore me, I’m going to make some weird noises’,” she said. “Then I try and get their pet’s attention with a funny throat noise.”
Sulzberger was announced AIPP Tasmanian Pet Photographer Of The Year on Sunday for the second year in a row. Croaky throat noises are just part of the fun with squeaky toys and dog treats par for the course.
“I’ve got a few funny stories, like some crazy things that dogs do or what you have to do to get the shot,” Sulzberger said. “You do have to make animals feel comfortable.”
Sulzberger, a self-professed animal lover, said the award warranted the hours she poured into her passion.
“I basically bought a camera and decided I really enjoyed doing this,” she said.
“For me, it can mean hours and hours of work.
“Winning this award for the second time has really justified the hard work I put into pet photography.”
