THERE’S nothing like a bit of construction during the school holidays, and that’s what dozens of kids have been enjoying at Tamworth Shoppingworld.
No, there’s no major renovations under way, rather the fun has involved those popular primary coloured blocks enjoyed by generations of children of all ages.
The shopping centre has been hosting the Great Lego Building Challenge and the finals were held on the weekend, after a series of heats since last Tuesday.
Children as young as three could get in on the action, all the way up to 14-year-olds who were able to put their creativity to the ultimate Lego test. Leader photographer Barry Smith was there for some of the heats during the week, and it’s easy to see just how seriously the kids were taking the event, with anticipation and concentration etched on their young faces.
