The Tamworth Harley Owners’ Group (HOG) loves nothing more than supporting local children’s charities and has sponsored an entire room in the house for six years. The group donates $5000 annually to sponsor unit two at the house.
HOG treasurer Janeen Morgan said all the money the group raised during the year went to local children’s charities.
“We just think it’s a really worthy cause, because it helps children, which is the main thing,” she said.
The money for Ronald McDonald House is raised through the annual poker run, which is held on the first weekend of the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Ronald McDonald House Charities northern NSW CEO Ross Bingham said the annual donation meant they could budget easier.
“It takes away the unknown, because, with most of the money we raise, we don’t know we’re getting it until we get it,” he said.
“This is solid income we can rely on to support families.”
Tamworth Ronald McDonald House manager Chris Watson said the donation continued to help the charity provide the service to families.
“It helps provide a home away from home for so many families,” he said.
“It also takes the pressure off us having to raise funds.”
He said families enjoyed using the motorcycle-themed HOG room.
They have even had a couple name their child Harley, in honour of the room.
“We have a great relationship with the Harley Owners’ Group,” he said.
