Under the sponsorship of Newcastle Permanent and Steggles, Hillvue Public School was able to present every student with three brand new books to take home through the 'Books into Homes Program'.
To promote this amazing program, our guest speaker, Lyn Grace shared with the students a short story that she had scribed which included reference to various children's books.
Lyn, who liaises with the coordinator of the New England Writers Centre Sophie Mason, assisted with the presentation of the Books into Homes packs. The New England Writers Centre is based in Armidale and coordinated by Sophie Mason who is a well-known children's author.
Listening to great writers and reading wonderful books inspires us all to write and read.
Who knows? One day it might be our book people are taking off the shelves, walking home with, curling up in their lounge chairs by the window and becoming absorbed in. It might be the print of Mr Jones ... The Real Story
Charles Jones, relieving assistant principal.
