Shane Thomas Barnett was arrested at a David St home about 1pm on Wednesday after police claim he tried to barricade himself in the home when officers arrived.
The Tamworth Target Action Group went to the home looking for Barnett, who had a warrant out for his arrest, and requested backup before Barnett was apprehended.
He was charged after a warrant was issued by Magistrate Roger Prowse on March 17, after Barnett failed to show up to court for sentencing on five charges.
Barnett appeared in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday afternoon and was refused bail by Magistrate Alexander Mijovich, who remanded him in custody ahead of sentencing before a different magistrate in April.
In March, The Leader revealed Barnett had been found guilty at a hearing of several offences after a police raid in Tamworth in 2015, where he was caught with methylamphetamine in his bottom.
Mr Prowse said there was “no rational explanation” as to why Barnett would have the methylamphetamine clenched in a tube between his buttocks, other than for drug supply.
Mr Prowse said Barnett’s evidence was “substantial garbage” and warned him he was going to jail after the court heard he was on an intensive corrections order, or a community-based jail term, at the time of the offending.
Barnett’s solicitor requested a one-day adjournment for Barnett, who is a carer, to allow him to sort out arrangements for family but Barnett skipped court and remained on the run, until his arrest on Wednesday.
