FIVE charolais yearling heifers have been stolen from a property near Glen Innes.
The New England Rural Crime is investigating the theft – the latest case of cattle or sheep stolen in the area over the past couple of months.
The cattle are believed to have been taken from the property Vale View at Shannon Vale, east of Glen Innes during September.
The missing stock were part of a mob containing 100 charolais heifers placed in a paddock at the property at the beginning of September. The stock were mustered and found to be five head short.
After speaking to neighbours and conducting extensive searches, the owner’s of the stock have been unable to find the heifers. Police said the stock were station-bred and had not yet been fitted with National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) tags.
New England Rural Crime detectives say they are keen to speak with anyone who has information regarding the theft, including anyone who saw suspicious vehicles in the area or was offered similar stock through a private sale.
