“I’m really looking forward to playing to Australian crowds,” she said.
“Mostly when I’ve travelled and met Australians, they’ve been athletic and adventurous, so I think they will be crazy, fun people and I’m hoping that everyone is just like that.”
The singer-songwriter of US and Australian country hit, Burning House, said she looked forward to feeling what the vibe was like in Australia.
“It’s going to be fun to compare the fans,” she said.
“If you (Australian fans) can out-crazy some of the places I’ve been, I’ll be impressed – and I’m hoping that’s the case.”
It’s not all work and no play, with Cam bringing her fiance, who is a keen surfer.
They hope to hit the beaches in Sydney.
Cam is known for wearing her heart on her sleeve in her self-penned songs.
She said songwriting was a lot of hard work for her.
“You have to be really vulnerable; you have to hash it out,” she said.
“To really make a song great and finish it, you have to be super-inspired by the story you’re telling.
“You have to be telling a really important truth or something you haven’t talked about before – something that hits you in the gut.”
Although hard work, she said the fact she wrote her own songs had played a big part in her success so far.
“I think it’s been huge, because I don’t sing songs that are written by other people and that mixed with the fact that before I got signed to a record label, I got this album out,” she said.
“Ninety per cent of Untamed happened before we got the label involved, so that was really cool that it was done outside of the system.
“The songwriting and production is really authentic.”
Cam said she hoped she could keep that authentic sound with her follow-up album.
The point of difference and her undeniable talent meant she was nominated for a Grammy Award for Burning House in Best Solo Country Performance, which Chris Stapleton won.
Cam’s also up for four ACM Awards.
“It’s all a nice pat on the back from everybody,” she said.
Cam hits the stage this weekend at Willowbank Raceway for the sold-out CMC Rocks Queensland.
