MY HUSBAND and I are very fortunate to have just welcomed our second son into the world at Tamara Private Hospital.
The care we received from all of the Tamara staff was above and beyond our expectations.
Special mention has to go to the amazing midwives who showed such warmth and compassion at this precious time.
The relaxed and friendly atmosphere that they cultivate enhanced this special time for my family.
I wish all of them the very best as they contemplate the future.
I say this as the maternity unit has now closed due to the extremely disappointing decision made by Ramsay Healthcare.
By closing the only private maternity facility in North West NSW, they have removed yet another essential service from our rural community.
Ramsay Healthcare has left many expectant mums in our region without the choice of private maternity care locally. To access these services they now have to travel to Newcastle or Brisbane.
It is very disappointing that decisions like this are made by accountants, probably living in one of our capital cities.
I am sure that if their children were born at Tamara and they had experienced firsthand the warmth and compassion that we have, their decision to close this unit would have been different.
