General manager for food ingredients Dominic Regan said the upgrade work would “deliver significant production performance improvements” and the company looked forward to the upgrade being completed later this year.
Mr Regan said the work was being carried out by several local and regional contractors. It was reported in November last year Allied Mills would build a new glucose refinery at it Marius St starch plant as part of a $21 million upgrade.
Mr Regan told The Leader in November “the investments we are making in our Tamworth facilities are a major priority at Allied Mills and are in response to our customers’ demand for high-quality products and solutions, which our Tamworth facilities are capable of providing”.
