Senior Constable David Rixon was fatally shot while performing a random traffic stop in Lorraine St, West Tamworth, on the morning of March 2, 2012.
Yesterday, Oxley police joined family and friends of Senior Constable Rixon at a short service at the permanent memorial for the officer out the front of the Tamworth Police Station, which was followed by a breakfast.
“It is four years since the sudden and tragic loss of our colleague, and friend, Senior Constable David Rixon BM, VA,” an Oxley police spokesperson said yesterday.
“We continue to remember David’s dedication, extreme courage, and the ultimate sacrifice he made for the community of Tamworth and NSW.
“David’s courage and conviction continues to inspire us and strengthens our resolve to protect this community.”
Senior Constable Rixon was 40.
