The time to invest in manufacturing is now

NORTHERN NSW it is time to tell the O’Farrell government that our manufacturing sector will not take the “Make NSW No. 1 again” slogan with a grain of salt.

Jobs are being lost in economic conditions that see Australia as being well off because of a mining boom. The O’Farrell government’s chief ministers are talking up investment, but there seems to be none whatsoever in manufacturing, which will help NSW be “No.1 again”.

Competitive advantage; I think not.

Eighteen months of spin and nothing, not one thing, to help Northern NSW’s manufacturing industry.

Two trucking companies have closed in Tamworth, a meatworks has shut its night shift in Wingham and another meatworks has closed in Grafton.

Mr O’Farrell, manufacturing creates output which is exported or supplied to the domestic market and is measured as Gross Domestic Product.

Well, Mr O’Farrell, if our jobs go and there is no growth, I feel like every election that I have voted in I will definitely vote Labor “No.1” again.
