Police were called to the City Plaza car park about 12.15pm on Thursday after five men were allegedly embroiled in a physical altercation.
An 18-year-old man along with a 23-year-old have been charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence after allegedly arming themselves with a knife, hammer and crutcher, during the confrontation.
Witnesses called for police and five males aged in their late teens and early twenties were arrested at the scene, including one male who tried to run from officers but was arrested inside the shopping centre.
One male was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment of a head injury but was later released.
All five men have been charged with affray and have been granted conditional bail to front Tamworth Local Court later this month.
Investigators will allege the argument was triggered by an earlier verbal argument.
