Armidale Golf Club general manager Tim Allerton said another good field romped around the course in happy, hooking fashion.
“We did have another good field and everyone had fun. Numbers were a bit down but everyone who played had a good time and enjoyed themselves for a good cause.
“There was much more emphasis on dressing up this year too.”
Kevin Marshall, who helps out club professional Andrew Walkley in the Pro Shop, said the size of the field was “not quite up to last year”.
“It was a reasonably good turnout and half the field made the effort to dress up,” he said.
“They made the effort and had a great day.”
Played in a four-person ambrose format, the scoring was “very very close”, Marshall said.
Winners with 55.37 were the group of J. Elks, Gary Elks, Warren Pearce and Greg Chappell.
They had 67 off the stick around the par 72 layout.
Runners-up were P Harris, I Reeves, G Isnch and T Jones with 5562 while C Murray, G Walker, Trevor and Tim Murray were third with 56.37.
Supergirl, alias Leisa Meehan, had to spark up her Superhero teammates.
“Supergirl is carrying this team,” she told The Leader’s roving correspondent as they passed the jolly food tent.
She had been concerned her costume was a bit daring so was wearing some supergirl shorts as well.
Supergirl wasn’t flashing her derriere for anyone.
The Misfits team, who looked more like rainbow lollipops, also looked remarkably like Armidale and Dumaresq Council engineers and the Justice League team also had the Superhero theme under control as well although one said “if you can’t play golf, play Batman”.
The Sportspower team also had a word for their sponsor: “Schmude does deals, not birdies”.
Another player reckoned his team had “folded like an origami swan”.
Then there was the Armidale Four Wheel Drive Club’s “Hole in Juan” team of supposed south-of-the-border Mexicans.
They also drove away with the Best Dressed Award.
One notable effort came from the Hippies.
They made a direct donation to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
