The Year 10 class of 1990 and Year 12 class of 1992 gathered at the Goodies last week to reminisce on their school days.
Nearly a third of the 150 or so students that made up the Year 10 and 12 graduating classes were able to make it, with some travelling from as far as Melbourne in Victoria and Bundaberg in Queensland.
The attendees last met in 2002 to celebrate their 10-year reunion and organisers say they’re now thinking about holding one every five years.
Genevieve Cohen and Teree Vermunt were the driving forces behind the reunion and said everyone had a great time.
They created a Facebook page to keep in touch with their old class-mates and organise the event.
The reunion’s attendees were even given a special tour of their old school by their then year advisor Greg Allen, who still teaches at the high school.
Mrs Cohen said the school hadn’t changed much but a few things had been upgraded.
She remembers the school for its sport – water polo and hockey – and the great excursions, including a trip to the red centre and northern Queensland known as the “Central Australia trip.”
She said it was great seeing her fellow classmates again at the reunion.
“Everyone there seemed happy with what they set out to do in life,” Mrs Cohen said.
Mrs Cohen and her family have recently moved back to Tamworth, her home town, and says most of her family also attended Tamworth High.
