A referendum will force the government to act in a certain way.
A plebiscite is just a national opinion poll.
I am not particularly sure that there is any specific authority in churches (read religions), or any rights assigned to them, apart from not paying tax.
People marry in churches and get divorced in courts of law – rather quaint. People of the red-hot heterosexual type rape, bash and otherwise deprive their partners in a marriage – not a good reference for marriage, which, incidentally, leads to many divorces.
Society today sees so many couples living together and having children without being married, and we cannot make them get married, yet here we are shouting that marriage is important to the whole future of society.
Yet we are also shouting that certain people cannot get married.
However, economics was mentioned, so we should realise that the budget will benefit from married couples getting the pension, rather than two single people. Should we agree at a benefit for the economy or not?
God made man “in his own image”, and many with an opinion always defer to God.
These vacuous arguments that set homosexuals apart are unnecessary.
You cannot show homosexuals as non-human beings. It is just plain wrong and unintelligent.
They are entitled to all the privileges that are available to all other human beings under Australian laws.
My wife Jan and I are supremely confident that same-sex marriage has not, and will not, affect our present or future in any way, shape or form.
