The Michael Formosa-trained- and-driven gelding sat three wide 850m out and then eased to the front 400m out to race to a 10m lead around the final turn and then cruise to a 2.75m victory from Melton Marvel.
Formosa trains the gelding son of Somebeachsomewhere for Tamworth owners Wendy and Maurice Mondolo and always enjoys returning to Tamworth with their horses for what has been a number of local wins.
Thursday’s win was Somemondosomewhere’s fourth in 10 starts.
“He’s got some ability,” Formosa said of a gelding who started a 10-1on favourite and won like it as well.
“He’s still a bit green.”
He was hoping for a good day, with a number of other stable runners also returning to the track Thursday but the closest he managed were seconds with Sovereign Flight (to Samuel Thomas) and Starzzzinthenight (to Major Deed).
It was a good day for Tamworth trainers Ernie Mabbott, Tony Missen, Danny Mackney and Len Simon.
Mabbott won the third race with No Confession, Simon won the fourth with Major Temptation, Missen the fifth with Samuel Thomas and Mackney the seventh with Who Killed Kenny.
Lola Weidemann drove Who Killed Kenny and then made it a driving double when she won the last with Major Deed.
Tamworth Harness Racing Club race again Thursday, February 18 when they stage their Joan Bullock Memorial.
