BEN Middlebrook believes tonight’s one day cricket final might be dominated by the young bowlers, with both sides boasting exciting young talent in their bowling ranks and plenty of experience with the willow.

Bective-East finished on top of the one-day standings after a rain-marred season but Old Boys have been there before, on the wrong end of both previous one-day finals before going on to win the two-day final, premiership and club championship both seasons.
“It is always a good game between us and Bective,” Middlebrook said.
“They are a good young side with plenty of talented cricketers.”
“They don’t have an obvious weakness.”
The skipper went on to say that teenage paceman Lachie Davidson was probably the most improved bowler of the season, whilst the Bulls’ run- scoring ability would likely centre on opposition captain Adam Jones.
“They have also got Brad Jenkinson’s bowling as well as Harrison Kelly.”
Old Boys also boast a few young stars with the ball although, instead of pace, the duo turn the ball.
Will Chesterfield is another bowler who could find his way to the most improved list on the back of a big season in all formats as well as appearances for Tamworth, Central North and, most recently, a tour of New Zealand with the NSW Country Emus.
“Chesty is playing really well,” Middlebrook said.
“Jack Richards has also been bowling well.
“They have really gone up a notch this year and Chris Coulton has also stood out.”
Old Boys’ strength still remain their top order however, with almost all Central North players down the top and middle order.
Adam Lole and Simon Norvill could be the most dangerous openers in the competition when they are in form, and they are supported by Middlebrook, last year’s best and fairest Aaron Hazlewood and Abel Carney, while Chris Dobson is also returning from injury for the final.
“We would love to get some runs on the board first,” Middlebrook said.
“I like us to aim for about four an over to give us a good target to bowl at.
“Or it would be nice to get something easy to chase.
“I think it will be a good close game of cricket and who knows what No 1 Oval will bring up after the rain.”
