For many swimmers it was a final chance, or for a few, the final two chances to get an official qualifying time in for the Speedo Sprints and Area Championships to be held in Inverell next weekend after registrations closed on Monday afternoon.
In Werris Creek, over 140 swimmers hit the pool on top of the hill for a full day in the drink, while on Sunday record entries hit the water at Tamworth City for their biggest carnival on record as 250 swimmers recorded over 1500 entries.
Both carnivals were using state of the art electronic touch timers and both venues recorded some great times, plenty of PBs as well as a few records.
The Sharks will be very heavily represented in Inverell next weekend while, for a small club, Werris Creek is punching above its weight with representative swimmers.
The Speedo Sprints will be held on Saturday morning for swimmers aged under 13 before the older kids hit the water for a day and a half for the Area Championships starting after lunch on Saturday and finishing Sunday afternoon.
