US COUNTRY artist Joe Nichols came, he saw and he conquered the crowd at TRECC on Friday night.
He also left town with a few presents from the women of the north west – bras in various sizes and designs.
Before his debut performance in Tamworth, he said he’d heard good things about the crowds here and he certainly wasn’t disappointed on Friday night, tweeting “Thanks Tamworth! I had a great time tonight! Now what am I gonna do with all the bras y’all threw at us? ha #ILoveMyJob” after the concert.
With songs including Take It Off and Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, it’s unsurprising the women of Tamworth and surrounds were happy to get in the spirit and danced and sang their way through these and Joe’s other hits.
When Joe took the stage, the more than 1000 people in the audience couldn’t believe their luck in getting him to perform in their hometown.
As a treat for the Country Music Capital fans, Joe even tested out a song from his upcoming album, Yeah. It was a hit with the crowd and is likely to resonate with all his fans, garnering the platinum-selling artist yet another chart-topper.
Opening acts sometimes get forgotten in the excitement of seeing the “big name” artists, but Morgan Evans was the perfect warm-up for Joe, getting the crowd on their feet early in his set and keeping them dancing until the end.
Signing his new EP, While We’re Young, in the foyer of TRECC, Morgan had a line of fans snaking through the venue itching to get their hands on his latest product.
Tamworth country fans now have Dwight Yoakam’s concert to look forward to on Sunday, November 18 and we can hope Joe returns to us in coming years and tells all his Nashville mates that they should come too.
Promoters Chugg Entertainment, Rob Potts’ Entertainment Edge and CMC also need to be thanked for their faith in Tamworth and bringing Joe Nichols to us, and McManus Entertainment for bringing Dwight next month.
