Mid North Coast takes lion's share at carnival

MID North Coast took two of the Central North Invitational Carnival titles home with it and Hunter Valley left with the other one but there were still some highlights for the North West and Northern Tablelands sides.

In the under 16s, MNC won with two wins and a washout after yesterday’s success against North West at Riverside 2.

The home side made 153, with Campbell Baker (34) and Sam Lumby (38) putting on 77 for the fourth wicket.

But MNC chased that score easily and won by eight wickets.

Toby Fox’s 1-11 off four overs was the best for North West.

Tablelands could only manage 88 in reply to Hunter’s 9-203 at Dick Edwards Oval.

Jake Farthing took 3-28 and Mitch Lennon 2-33 while the top score with the bat was Sage Cook with 25.

In the under 14s at Scully Park, North West made 182, with 44 not out from Matt Bryant the highlight.

But MNC got the runs with two overs to spare for a one wicket win despite Lachlan Davidson taking 3-26.

At Chaffey Park, Northern Tablelands made only 43, with no batsmen reaching double figures and Hunter won by four wickets.

But the highlight for the Tablelands was a six-wicket haul to Tom Scoble.

He snared all six wickets for just five runs.

Mid North Coast made 145 at Max Sutton Oval in the under 13s, with Jye Paterson claiming 4-16 for North West.

Paddy Montgomery then hit 47 not out but it wasn’t enough as North West fell for 127.

Across the road at Riverside 5, North Tablelands batted first and made 98, with Joe Gordon top-scoring with 24.

But Hunter won by six wickets.

Matt Campion’s 2-22 was the best of the bowling figures for Tablelands.

Mid North Coast won the overall award for most successful council thanks to its two age group wins.
