South Tamworth, skipped by Scott “Pud” Thorning, beat North Tamworth, skipped by Phil O’Reilly, in yesterday afternoon’s final.
South had beaten West in a runaway semi-final yesterday morning while Manilla and North Tamworth had played out a thriller in their semi.
“We had 12 teams out here,” CNDBA publicity officer Tony Edmunds said.
“We had some great games on Saturday.
“The Col Horne and Luke Russell (skips) game went right to the last bowl, 21-20.
“Each team had four games in the morning and four in the afternoon, playing a first to 21 shots format.
“It was also good we had four different clubs represented in the semis too.”
Yesterday afternoon South, comprising skip Thorning, Nic Golledge, Paul Whitten and Stewart Bayliss, led 11-7 after 12 ends before beating the North team of Chris Collins, Ian Westbrook, Paul Eggers and skip Phil O’Reilly 21-11.
“It was a good weekend. We played good, consistent bowls throughout,” Thorning said.
