A CUSTOMER was assaulted in a service station robbery at Quirindi last night.
Detectives are expected to return to the scene this morning, following the robbery at the Shell Service Station, on Station St about 7.30pm.
A man in his early 20s reportedly walked into the station and grabbed hold of a customer at the counter.
Police allege the man indicated he had a weapon concealed in his jacket pocket, however no weapon was seen by witnesses.
The man demanded money and an unspecified amount of cash was handed over to him.
It was then he allegedly struck the customer on the side of the head before fleeing the scene.
The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance of a thin build and wearing a red hooded jacket and three-quarter length pants.
Police said the customer was uninjured from the ordeal.
