It was the climax of a week-long event and ABCRA executive officer Hunter Jones said crowd numbers were up from last year for both junior and senior events.
“We had 2000 come to our Tough Enough To Wear Pink Cancer Council night on Friday, which was our biggest Friday-night crowd in four years,” Mr Jones said.
“On Saturday there were more than 5000 people and the atmosphere was amazing. The competitors interacted with the crowd and responded to the competitors’ performance – it made the night.”
Mr Jones said the crowd was a cornerstone of the event, which was streamed live online for the first time this year.
“We had people watching as far away as Hong Kong,” he said.
“It’s helping to put the event on the map and showcasing Tamworth as a world-class venue.”
Mr Jones put the dramatic increase in crowd attendance down to a different approach to marketing.
“We also had a new relationship with Tamworth Regional Council and the Tamworth Country Music Festival Committee,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to January 2017 already.”
