There were thrills and spills but, above everything else, cowboys and cowgirls riding their hearts out as they looked to add to their points tally and potentially edge closer to a national title or even a finals champion buckle.
Matthews was the quickest in the Tandy Leather Ladies barrel race, negotiating the barrels in 17.64secs.
Roger Parkinson took out the rope and tie in 11.11secs, while Emma Taylor took just 1.79 seconds to undecorate her steer.
Jane Stagg took the honours in the Diamond Wool breakaway roping, stopping the clock at 3.2secs, Ben Smith and Brody Moss (6.75secs) the Impulse Print team roping and Blake Hallam the Cinch steer wrestling in 4.84secs.
In the roughstock, Wade McCarthy’s 76-point ride saw him finish on top in the bareback.
The cash had to be split in the Resistol Hats saddle bronc with Robert Bandy and Rhys Angland both scoring 79.
Walcha’s Carl Green finished off the night with 79 to win the Jack Daniels Bull Ride.
The final round will be held tonight from 6.30pm.
