One half, Kaylee Harrison, who makes up the duo with brother Glen, said they'd had a busy festival, with #LiveLoudFree in the park, a couple of shows at the Pig and Tinder Box and other appearances around the city.
"We are mostly playing our new songs this year and released our first single, Firefly Summer, off the new album, In Our Blood," she said. "It's exciting to showcase the new album, which will be released on March 18."
They recorded in Brisbane with Andrew Cochrane in September-October last year and, Kaylee said, it was a bit more country than the previous album.
"It's a lot more guitar-driven and Glen had a bit more of a lead role. He's got a few more songs that he sings, and we brought the harmonies up a bit, to sound more like a duo."
Firefly Summer was written during last year's Tamworth Country Music Festival with Kaylee Bell and Jared Porter.
"After hearing the melody, thoughts poured out of us and we began to reminisce about good times," Kaylee said. "It's all about not letting the grind and busyness of life get in the way of what makes you happy. I love this song. It took less than two hours to write."
The duo will launch the album in March, then they're planning a tour with Melanie Dyer.
Kaylee said they looked forward to Tamworth because it was the biggest festival of the year.
"Everyone is there, so it's a good catch-up with all the musical friends, and you always meet new people," she said. "It's all about great vibes, great fun and being surrounded by music."
Kaylens Rain play the Cattleman Steakhouse at 8pm today, and Toyota Fanzone tomorrow.
